There are many homeowners who like to be able to change the décor of their house or a certain room to coincide with the changing seasons. This doesn't involve any major changes like painting the walls or getting new furniture, but smaller decorating changes can definitely have your home looking like springtime or winter. Here are some really simple ways to change the décor to reflect the different seasons throughout the year.
Switch up the Slipcovers

One of the most common ways to change your décor for the season is to switch your slipcovers for each of the seasons. For winter, you can have darker and richer fabrics such as a black velvet or dark green chenille. In the summer and spring, you want to go with a lighter fabric and color or pattern. For fall, you may want to bring in the colors of the outdoors with a brown or brown and orange patterned slipcover.
Change Furniture Accessories
Along with changing the slipcovers on the furniture you can also add or remove different accessories. In winter and fall, heavy throws and blankets can be thrown on the back of couches and chairs and then removed in the warmer months of spring and summer. You can do the same thing as described with changing the slipcovers with decorative pillows instead. Keep it lighter in the warmer seasons, and darker and heavier in the colder ones.
Change the Window Treatments
Depending on what your preference is, you may want to make your window treatments either block out the sun or allow more light in during the different seasons. Some people like to lighten up the window treatments in winter to allow for any sunlight to come into the home, and then put up shades or blinds during summer to block out some of the strong sunlight from warmer the house too much.
Rotate Area Rugs
If you have any area rugs in your home you can also change them for the different seasons as well. You may even consider taking them out all together in the warmer summer months and just having a hardwood or tile floor. In winter and fall you definitely want to have a warm area rug on the ground to warm up the room.
Change Up the Small Accessories
A quick and easy way to change the décor for the different seasons is to have small accessories that can be put out for each season that will still go with the style of the room. In summer, you may want to put out vases of fresh flowers and containers filled with seashells. For fall, you can change it up and go with some fake gourds or fall flower arrangements in wicker baskets. In winter, you can choose to decorate for the holiday season or for winter in general with things like snowmen and candles. Spring can bring new flowers arrangements and spring knickknacks for the shelves. You can even have some artwork on the walls that you change for the different seasons.
There are plenty of different ways to change the décor for the different seasons as it just takes some creativity and research on what looks best and is still functional for the four different seasons. Little changes here and there can change the look of the room more than you think.
